ENTRANCE, GASLOCK & ENTRANCE DEFENCE |
|||
| Steps descend to the entrance where a shower was used for decontamination, the bunker is then entered through the heavy steel armoured doors into the gaslock. In the event of a gas attack, this area allowed the outer doors to be closed and the space to be ventilated before entering the main part of the bunker. The embrasure in the entrance defence room allowed rifle or machine gun fire for close defence of the bunker. Arms and ammunition were also stored in this room. It is now used as the administration office when the bunker is open to the public. | ||||
| Gaslock, note the M.N.O. inscription above the inner door and "Kein licht bei offener Tur" which translates as "No light when the door is open" | ||||
